Read Philippians 1:1-11: Click HERE

This remarkable prayer of Paul for the Philippians is full of joy because he finds joy in the gospel being shared. He not only finds joy to partner with them in the gospel but also in their work without him because he is confident in God’s work in their lives.

Our purpose is to know God and make Him known. We will always feel most fulfilled in life while we are doing this because this is what we were made for! Think of it like this: I could use my iPhone as a coaster. It would work as a coaster, but that would be silly because Steve Jobs created the iPhone to do all these incredible things. We are wasting our iPhones by using them as coasters. It would be dissatisfying to not use it for what it was created for. God created you, and He is telling us why. It's for Himself. It's to spread His name. Don't be a coaster: it's not going to satisfy.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Paul joyfully wrote about spreading the Gospel from a cell. How would you describe your attitude towards sharing what Jesus did for you with others?
  2. What can you do this week to share Jesus more than you did last week?
  3. Paul describes his thankfulness for his partners in sharing the Gospel. Who are your partners in sharing the Gospel and how can you pursue love and unity with them?
