READ PHILIPPIANS 3:1-11

Followers of Jesus change from the inside out not the outside in. It's the spirit of God that changes us. Not our works.

When we look at our lives in light of the gospel, we repent for our sins, but we also repent of the achievements that we would use to "justify" ourselves before God. We obey through our thankfulness to God for saving us. We do not obey to be saved. Think of it like an equation

It is NOT faith +good works = saved

It IS faith saved = good works

Faith alone. In Christ Alone.

As Christian's, in suffering we get to know Christ in his suffering. We become more like Jesus because we grasp the greatness of his love for us that he would suffer for us.

Don't let your suffering discourage you in your faith. Let it encourage you that someone suffered who didn't deserve it ..for your sake. And the suffering you are experiencing is only a fraction of how much He suffered for you.

We tend to struggle with one of two mindsets

  1. feeling like you deserve Gods love
  2. struggling to accept Gods love

Neither is the gospel, which do you drift towards? How can you fight these lies with the true knowledge of the gospel?
